  • Seeking wellness is a personal process that can be multi-faceted. Before seeking professional guidance, people often consider a variety of ways to achieve their goals. What counselling and psychotherapy (or just therapy) offer is self-reflection and exploration in a safe and stable environment. At hopeful horizons, you will be met with educational, clinical and research experience that could complement your healing journey.

  • Yes, confidentiality is held in high regard and taken very seriously. Everything you share, at any time, is kept strictly confidential. Yet, there are some exceptions to confidentiality; therapists are allowed to break confidentiality if...

    (1) There is an immediate or imminent risk of harm to yourself or someone else, there is suspicion or knowledge of harm to a child or otherwise vulnerable person, or our records are subpoenaed by a court of law.

    (2) For any reason, you provide written consent (an ROI) allowing confidential information to be shared. This would be appropriate if you ask or permit your therapist to collaborate with other practitioners who are assisting your wellness journey.

  • Most health insurance/extended medical benefit plans partially or fully cover health-care or paramedical practitioners. If you are unsure what your coverage entails, please contact your workplace or your insurer to clarify what kind of coverage you have. In many cases, policies will also cover your children if they are under the age of 25. Please note that we do not do direct billing, however we will provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurer for full or partial reimbursement.

  • I understand that it is often necessary to change or cancel a therapy session due to life circumstances. If you are unable to attend your scheduled session, we ask that you please let us know as soon as you're able to. This will allow me to provide space for other clients who are in need. While I understand that last-minute changes or cancellations are sometimes unavoidable, I do require a 48-hour notice period. Changes or cancellations made within the 48 hour window are subject to full session fees to ensure fairness. Changes or cancellations made 48 hours or earlier will not be subject to any fees. Exceptional circumstances will always be taken into consideration.
